ACOM Compact MF/HF

 ACOM Compact MF/HF Antenna System V101 - 03AT

The V101 - 03AT antenna system consists of the Broadband Inverted Vee Dipole Antenna V101 and the automatic antenna tuner ACOM 03AT. It is designed for receiving and transmitting in the MF/HF frequency range of 1.6 to 16 MHz. Although the main advantage of this antenna is enhanced at the short and medium range to 500-1000 km (no skipping any shorter distance thanks to intensive sky wave radiation), it is still fit at longer-range circuits in excess of 2000 km.

The antenna set up requires the automatic antenna tuner model 03AT that is mounted at the antenna base and uses remote control. The V101 - 03AT system can handle up to 1.6 kW at frequencies above 3.5 MHz but for lower frequencies the power handled decreases gradually to 200 W on 1.6 MHz.

  Frequency range: 1.6 to 16 MHz (note the power handling)
Power handling (PEP or average, 100% duty cycle):
      - 1600 kHz - 200 W;
      - 2182 / 2187.5 kHz - 500 W (International MF Distress
        frequencies for RADIOTELEPHONY(VOICE) and
        DIGITAL SELECTIVE CALLING (DSC) respectively.
      - 3 MHz - 1000 W;
      - 3 MHz and above - 1600 W;
RF input: unbalanced, 50 Ohms nominal impedance
Truly broadband antenna - no terminations neither earth losses are purposely involved for bandwidth broadening, hence outperforming resistive-loaded or highly earth-coupled antennas with a similar size; the system typically earns one S-unit (6dB) above 6 MHz and 10 dB or more at lower frequencies. The natural SWR of the antenna V101 without a tuner does not exceed 5 (200 Ohm balanced) above 4.5 MHz
SWR after a fresh tuning (50 Ohm unbalanced, 1.6 - 16 MHz): < 1.5
Quasi omni-directional azimuth pattern with a high elevation angle of 30 - 90 degrees (suitable for reliable sky wave communications)
Land area required: 22 x 15 m - 1/3 decare (72 x 49 ft - 1/12 acre)
Height: 10 m (33 ft), single mast installation
Operating temperature range: -40° C to +65° C (-40° F to +150° F)
Wind survival (no ice): 140 kmph (87.5 mph)

The antenna set up consists of:
Aluminum mast 10 m (33 ft) tall
Balanced feed line (200 Ohms, to be attached to the mast)
Kevlar® guys (polyurethane jacket for best UV protection)
Two radiating legs of stainless steel ropes, fed at the antenna apex
Stainless steel hardware
Automatic antenna tuner model 03AT attached to antenna base
Remote Control Unit with integrated power supply (part of 03AT set)
Optical control and power cables (part of 03AT set)
Coaxial cable (option)

Note: Cable lengths on request, up to 50 m (164 ft) each
